AUSTRALIA - A simulated outbreak of swine fever is being played out across the Northern Territory today and tomorrow.Vets, stock inspectors, quarantine officials and wildlife rangers are amongst those taking part in Exercise Wild Boar.
Chief veterinary officer, Dr Brian Radunz, says the exercise will test the response to a potential outbreak in the 4 million feral pigs roaming the Territory.
"Swine fever is a viral disease of pigs which can vary from very rapid death to very mild signs to maybe 5-10 per cent of the pigs dying," he said.
