EU pig prices: Still stabilising!
EU - Record-breaking slaughter quantities are being reported from Germany as well as from Spain, the Netherlands, Austria and France these days.Nevertheless, the market proves to be well-balanced and has quotations remain unchanged or slightly increase within the EU. While quotations are raised a little in Austria, Belgium and Germany, prices were reported to remain untouched in Sweden, Denmark, Spain and France this week.
Both private storage and good export opportunities toward Eastern Europe are suitable to support parts’ prices; thus the slaughter companies come out even with their ideas, striving for utmost capacity of their sites. In many Eastern European countries, stock has been decreased since the beginning of the year, which seems to become noticeable now on the meat market, too. Export trade with Romania and Bulgaria is reported to be good in Denmark. Even exports toward Russia seem to gain momentum. At the end of last week, Russia even lifted the ban on imports which had been imposed on many Western European meat processing company.
Trend: Supply is expected to slightly go down over the next few weeks. With demand remaining constantly good, prices are anticipated to keep steady at least.
