Mainland agrees to boost chilled-pork supply
07 December 2007HONG KONG - The Food & Health Bureau has reached a consensus with the Mainland authorities to increase the chilled-pork supply to satisfy market demand. The market will determine the pork price.
The Government was concerned about the live-pig supply and reflected the situation to the Mainland authorities for co-ordination. The authorities are discussing the issue with the three live-pig agents.
The live-pig supply for the past two days was stable with about 4,000 heads imported each day. The overall pork supply - fresh pork, chilled and frozen pork - in Hong Kong is adequate, officials say.
