Print This Page EU Pig Prices: Markets Plateau
EU - No surprises are in store for the European pig market this week. Prices remain unchanged and only the Spanish trade hold out some optimism.The EU slaughter pig market is urgently waiting for some fresh incentive, but with the quotations remaining unchanged for weeks now, producers across the continent are depressed by the on-going recession.
Hopes were raised by the EU decision to ban beef imports from from Brazil - due to Foot and Mouth. However these hopes have been diminished as oversupply of pork and a fall in demand has forced little change to the plateaued market.
Trend: Demand might be revived at the beginning of the month and give necessary stimulus to the meat business.
