NEW YORK - Swine producers can now protect breeding animals against major reproductive diseases. Two newly formulated 2-ml vaccines have been launched by Pfizer Animal Health that target porcine parvovirus, erysipelas and leptospirosis.
FarrowSure® GOLD is the newly approved vaccine for breeding stock that helps provide protection against porcine parvovirus (PPV), erysipelas and five strains of leptospirosis.

"Parvo, lepto, and erysipelas vaccination is an important component of any breeding herd health program," says Steve Sornsen, DVM, MS, director of veterinary services for Pfizer Animal Health.
Long Duration
"FarrowSure GOLD helps provide the longest labelled duration of erysipelas immunity available-18 weeks-for protection you can count on. And we have the manufacturing capacity to ensure a consistent, uninterrupted supply," he adds. The newly formulated vaccine aids in protecting healthy swine from breeding failure caused by porcine parvovirus (PPV), erysipelas caused by Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, and leptospirosis caused by Leptospira canicola, L. grippotyphosa, L. hardjo, L. icterohaemorrhagiae and L. pomona. FarrowSure GOLD B adds protection from L. bratislava. These products have the advantage of a new, low-volume dose and are available in both 50-dose and 250-dose sizes.
The safety of FarrowSure GOLD was demonstrated under field conditions in approximately 1,340 sows and gilts receiving single or multiple doses.
For more information about the proper use of FarrowSure GOLD in swine operations, producers should talk with their veterinarian or local Pfizer Animal Health representative, or visit www.FarrowSureGOLD.com.
