Print This Page Pig disease reoccurs in Vietnam
CHINA - Central Ha Tinh province has become the first Vietnamese locality being affected by Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) over the past four months after the disease has recently hit 2,500 pigs in the province.The disease has broken out in the two districts of Cam Xuyen and Thach Ha, and Ha Tinh City in the province, local newspaper Youth on Monday quoted the provincial veterinary bureau as reporting.
Local veterinary agency has isolated and disinfected affected farms to prevent the disease from spreading.
PRRS was first recognized in the United States in the mid-1980sand is now present in most pig producing countries. The symptoms include reproductive failure, pneumonia and increased susceptibility to secondary bacterial infection.
