Disease Prevention Focus at BPPF
UK - The new option of using an injectable antibiotic to prevent as well as treat respiratory disease will be featured by Pfizer Animal Health at this year's British Pig and Poultry Fair.
The long-acting, single-dose product Draxxin - Europe's most popular injectable brand against swine respiratory disease - can now be used for treating groups of pigs when they are most at risk.
"Producers using Draxxin are finding it far more effective than using water or feed medication," says , Emmeline Randall, Pfizer product manager. "It is well established that sick pigs don't eat or drink normally and so the dose they receive is not predictable."
The company's stand at the event on 13 and 14 May at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire will also feature Pfizer's other mainline pig products - the antibiotic Naxcel and the vaccine Stellamune Once for early and life-long protection from enzootic pneumonia.
There will also be the opportunity for visitors to enter the 2008 Pfizer Trainee of the Year Awards organised in conjunction with the journals Pig World and Poultry World and each offering prizes worth more than £2500.
