Deputy Agriculture Minister Bui Ba Bong said in a directive, reported by Reuters, that from Saturday pigs sold to China should not come from or pass through provinces fighting the disease.

According to Reuters, the restrictions could cause a pork price hike in China, which saw its pig herd decimated by blue ear or Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) two years ago.

The first cases of the disease appeared in Viet Nam last year.
