Print This Page Pork Prices See Renewed Rise
SOUTH KOREA - Pork prices are being driven up because of the existing beef debate.Over the past four months pork prices at local retailers E-Mart, Homeplus and Lotte Mart have increased anywhere from 25 to 35 percent, according to Digital Chosunilbo.
E-Mart says pork bellies used in the popular dish samgyeopsal rose nearly W1,000 (US$1=W1,023) to W2,050 per 100 grams.
Buyers expect prices to remain high as demand for pork, in particular samgyeopsal, is highest in the summer.
