Royal Honour for Jan van Vugt
THE NETHERLANDS - Retiring Pigture Group director Jan van Vugt has been appointed Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau. Van Vugt received the Royal honour on 2 June 2008 during the annual general meeting of Coöperatie Pigture Group in Ede, the Netherlands.The honour is in recognition of Van Vugt’s services to the Dutch pig breeding industry and for how he has turned Pigture Group into a leading world company. Under his leadership, the Pigture Group has developed both nationally and internationally into a powerful pig breeding organisation that leads the way in innovation.
Jan van Vugt has been the director of Pigture Group since 1986. He will retire from the organisation in June 2008 after 22 years of service.
Pigture Group is the parent company of TOPIGS, Varkens K.I. Noord Brabant, and AIM Worldwide. In addition to this some 20 foreign subsidiaries and joint ventures are part of the Pigture Group.
Pigture Group is represented in all of the world’s major pig-producing regions. In the Netherlands, Pigture Group is the market leader in the area of pig genetics and together with TOPIGS International and the foreign subsidiaries it is one of the top global providers of pig genetics. Pigture Group has its headquarters in Vught.
