Print This Page Fire Destroys Manitoba Hog Operation
MANITOBA - Due to a fire, a huge pig plant in Southern Manitoba has suffered losses where thousands of pigs have been killed.According to TheStar, about 7,000 pigs died in the fire at the plant owned by Maple Leaf. The area's chief of the fire department said that the fire was responded to at around 3:30 in the morning but the barn, by then, was fully ablaze.
This is the second reported incident of a fire in Steinbach, Manitoba. The previous fire at a nearby Hytek plant destroyed a hog operation and killed 5,200 animals.
