Print This Page Vietnam Close to Becoming Free of PRRS
VIET NAM - According to the Veterinary Department under MARD (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), the control of PRRS (or blue-ear disease) in many Vietnamese provinces has been a success. The provinces of northern Thai Nguyen, the Central Highlands Lam Dong and southern Vinh Long have gladly reported that they are PRRS-free at the moment, with no new sightings within the last 21 days.
At present, the only two southern provinces - Bac Lieu and Soc Trang - are reporting the disease.
Despite the control, the Veterinary Department has warned that no negligence can be allowed in the prevention.
To continue carrying out preventive measures, MARD has signed an official dispatch asking localities in the Mekong River Delta and southeastern provinces to more strictly inspect breeding grounds and slaughterhouses to promptly detect any possible outbreaks.
