EU Pig Prices: Fear of Financial Crisis

EU - At present, a weak tendency is exhibited at the European pigs-mature-for-slaughter market.
Also, a corrected -3.7 cents marks the Spanish quotation as the biggest price loss. The Belgian quotation could not hold the price rise the previous week. Already for the second time in a row, the Netherlands quotation deviates from its German neighbour, thereby determining a decline in prices.
Germany once again proves itself to be the model character. The market for slaughter pigs presents itself as altogether balanced with stable prices and can defy the worldwide financial crisis. Eastern Europe and Great Britain have to fight at present with losses as a result of exchange. The dismantling of the European inventory is expected to bear fruits in the next few months. It is expected that next year, a decrease of the production is expected by approximately 4 per cent. So far, the consequences are not noticeable everywhere as yet.
Trend: The volumes coming week further are expected to run on full speed, in order to process the offer. An overhang is not expected.
