Two ASF Outbreaks in Russia

RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported two outbreaks of African Swine Fever (ASF) to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
OIE has received a follow-up report dated 24 October describing two recent outbreaks of ASF in Stavropol'Skiy Kray in the south-west of the country.
Both outbreaks started on 15 October and were on farms in the village of Gorkaya Balka. In the first outbreak, 120 pigs of a herd of 460 died. In the second outbreak, 41 pigs were affected of a herd of 440 animals. Seven of the pigs died.
The source of infection is thought to be contact with animals from affected areas in North Ossetia.
