Outlook on Challenging Future
UK - Outlook is a word often associated with uncertain weather conditions, but this year’s Outlook Conference is looking at an extremely variable and challenging future for the meat and livestock industry. The event is being run by EBLEX and BPEX and attracts speakers from a wide variety of backgrounds.
This year speakers include Bob Watson, Defra Chief Scientist who will look at climate change, food security and the environment and Prof Robert Pickard, Chairman of Which? who will address the diet and nutrition aspects of red meat.
On a business footing, Richard Brown of Gira Consulting will examine global trends in corporate meat strategies.
The event takes place on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at One Great George Street, Central London.
In the afternoon parallel sessions will, as in previous years, look at the market outlooks for the pig sector and in the cattle and sheep sectors.
The event is being organised by Stephen Rossides, Head of Economic and Policy Analysis Group for AHDB Meat Services, who said: “Our meat industry is facing greater and more varied challenges than ever before in a fast-changing world.
“The range of speakers we have will not only help identify those challenges but also ways of meeting them.
“This is an extremely important conference for those in the meat and livestock industry looking for the big picture and the strategic information on which to make sound business decisions about the future.”
