Ukraine Farmers Use Nedap Velos
UKRAINE - The Donetsk Region in the south-east of Ukraine is all about primary production.
Not only does it produce more then half of Ukraine steel and coal. It also provides a large part of the agricultural production of meat, milk and wheat. The scenery of this agricultural area is dominated by endless fields of fertile soil providing a perfect setting for agricultural development.

It is in this environment that Nedap dealer Promagro Kombinat has started up another project with Nedap Velos ESF (Electronic Sow Feeding). At the Agritech farm, located in the village Michurino, the first sows can enjoy the benefits of group housing as from early December.

Starting of with empty buildings in August, this farm was renovated to hold 500 sows in production. 7 Nedap ESF stations will provide individual feed to 350 pregnant sows. The automated heat detection will check continuously on sows returning into heat.

Implementing ESF does not only provide a cost-effective way of modernising existing buildings. It also enables the pig farmers to increase productivity by feeding sows individually to their optimal body condition. Supplementary, using group housing for gestating sows enables the pig producer to market his product into many markets.
