Print This Page India Plans on Looking to Germany for Pig Meat
INDIA - Russia is currently putting a brake on the amount of pigmeat it imports but as one door closes another opens — India is expected to become a significant importer of pigmeat in the near future. The most likely contender for the business will be German which saw its pigmeat exports increase 20 per cent this year as a result of buoyant demand from Russia, Hong Kong and China.
Under normal circumstances Holland and Denmark would have been in the running for the Indian market, but following cutbacks in their national herds this year they may not have sufficient supplies.
