Danish Crown Opens New Plant
SWEDEN - Danish Crown has opened its new case ready production facility (prepacked products) in Jönköping. The production facility is going to supply meat to the Swedish retail chain Axfood and is the most modern case ready production facility in Sweden and Europe. In future the new facility will be responsible for packing the majority of the meat which is distributed and sold in the Swedish shops Willys and Hemköp.
"Establishment of one of Europe’s most modern case ready production facilities stresses the fact that Danish Crown is able to compete on global conditions without losing closeness to the consumers. Knowing how to meet the demands for local product selections and at the same time being competitive, are the requirements for being part of the global food industry today. Danish Crown has proved this in a number of markets and we are pleased to prove it in the co-operation with Axfood, who is a major player in the Swedish retail market," said Kjeld Johannesen, CEO of Danish Crown.
Together with Purchase Manager Mats Sjödahl from Axfood, Kjeld Johannesen marked the official opening of the new factory today by cutting the ribbon to the production facility at 11:00 am.
Axfood chose Danish Crown as partner as the company has the most modern solutions and the highest quality within prepacked meat. Danish Crown already has several case ready production units operating in Europe.
According to Mr Johannesen, "The new facility will supply us with various products that stand out from the rest, says Torbjörn Lithell, Product Manager for meat in Axfood.
We will see new and different cuts, sausage products and of course also seasonal adjusted products such as barbeque products in summer and Christmas products in Christmas. This means that we are able to offer our customers a more attractive assortment, says Torbjörn Lithell."
