Print This Page FSIS Revises List of Approved Meat Additives
US - FSIS has revised the list of approved additives for meat and poultry.USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service has amended FSIS Directive 7120.1, reports Meat and Poultry. The amendment identifies substances approved for use in meat and poultry products as food additives; approved in generally recognised as safe (GRAS) notices and pre-market notifications; and approved in letters conveying acceptability determinations.
The list covers organic acids, trisodium phosphate, chlorine dioxide and hydrogen peroxide, and describes when they may be used in a range of different meat products.
