Eight More Cases of ASF Reported in Russia

RUSSIA - The veterinary authorities have sent a new report to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) about eight new cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the country.

The Russian veterinary authority has sent Follow Up Report No. 16 dated 19 May to OIE.

There were eight new outbreaks in total. Seven of these were in wild pigs in the Chechen Republic, with one animal found dead at each location between 27 April and 9 May.

The other case, which started on 30 April, was in a village near Shakovsky in Stavropol'skiy kray, the region where ASF has previously been reported. In the village with 1349 pigs, 300 were affected and 124 animals died. The remaining 176 sick animals were destroyed.
