WPE REPORT: New Nutrition Guide Developed
US - A new guide for pig nutrition in the US is expected to be completed in the autumn.The United Soybean Board announced at World Pork Expo in Des Moines that is has funded the National Swine Nutrition Guide, a collaborative project by the US Pork Centre of Excellence and US universities as well as the commercial feed industry.
The guide will include nutrition fact sheets, diet evaluation software and educational training sessions.
The fact sheets will be available on the Pork Information Gateway (click here).
The pack will also include software for the formulation and evaluation of diets.
Duane Reese from the University of Nebraska said: "The intent was to develop a very functional and user-friendly tool that producers and extension consultants could use to develop and evaluate diets.
"This tool uses a feed library with all the current nutrient requirements and bases the diets on the productivity of the herd."
