Print This Page Decreasing Pork Price Causes Deflation
INDONESIA - The decreasing price of pork is believed to be the primary factor behind a 0.17 per cent deflation experienced by Denpasar in May.Statistic Central Bureau (BPS) Bali office head Ida Komang Wisnu said the deflation was caused by price decreases in several foods, textile, transportation, communications and financial products.
"The biggest contributor to the deflation is the decreased prices of pork and rice."
The decreased price of pork was apparently caused by public scares following the outbreak of the H1N1 virus, reports The Jakarta Post.
