EU Pig Prices: Quotations Widely Unchanged
EU - The European slaughter pig market proves to be downright consistent this week.
The British and Irish prices are the only exceptions, which went down by a corrected 4 cents of necessity. In consequence of the holiday season the Spanish price normally increases over the summer months; this week however it stabilised on an unchanged level. The holidaymakers in Spain do not consume enough meat to have the price increase further, although less meat is on offer there, too.
As a result of changes in currency exchange rates, the corrected Swedish price went up clearly by a corrected 5 cents this week. Yet, the quotation remains unchanged for the forth time in a row in Sweden. The prices in the Netherlands, in Denmark, France, Belgium, Austria and Germany stabilised on the week-ago level.
Trend: At the beginning of the week, the pigs-mature-for-slaughter market appears well balanced. The quantities on offer are being in demand well by the purchasing side. Exporting live pigs still works well; thus, the domestic market is being relieved.
