EU Pig Prices: Spanish Quotation In the Doldrums
EU - Once again, the European slaughter pig market remains unchanged.
Much pressure is exerted on prices in France and Great Britain. Therefore, the price went down by a corrected 2 cents. The Spanish quotation fell to a much more considerable extent, namely by a corrected 8 cents. Low sales during the summer holiday season are said to be one of the reasons which, together with other factors, leads to a difficult situation on the Spanish market.
The prices in Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany could be stabilised on the previous-week level. The quantities of pigs for sale are said to be rather low in the Southern and Eastern parts of Germany. Although they are larger in the North and the West, the quantities on offer there can be sold easily and smoothly. The Swedish price went up by a corrected 2 cents.
Trend: The quantities of pigs mature for slaughter still not being excessive and the meat sales being better now – as a result of the improved sales of barbecue meat at the beginning of the month – the prices are expected to remain steady.
