H1N1 Flu Breaks out in Ireland

The Irish veterinary authority sent Immediate Notification dated 29 September to OIE.

It reports an outbreak starting on 25 September at a farm in Kilworth in Cork. The farm has a total of 3,050 pigs. It has a breeding unit comprising 650 sows and 2,400 piglets and weaners. Forty dry sows in two if the three sow houses were affected.

The presence of the influenza A H1N1 virus has been confirmed.
