Print This Page Russia Reports Total of Four ASF Outbreaks
RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported two new outbreaks of African Swine Fever (ASF).
The two areas affected by the new outbreaks are the city of Elista, where the outbreak occured on 19 November, and Rostovskaya. The latter reportedly took place on Friday, 20 October.
The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) receives follow-up report No. 11 earlier today (23 November).
The OIE have still not managed to uncover the source of the outbreak.
The latest outbreaks occured in wild pigs. In both cases, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were conducted and the results have confirmed the presence of the virus.
