Print This Page FSIS Amends List of Safe Ingredients for Meat Products
US - USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has amended its Directive regarding safe and suitable ingredients for the production of meat and poultry products.FSIS has updated Attachment 1 for FSIS Directive 7120.1, reports American Meat Institute.
Attachment 1 identifies the food-grade substances that have been approved in 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) for use in meat and poultry products as food additives, approved in generally recognized as safe (GRAS) notices and pre-market notifications, and approved in letters conveying acceptability determinations.
