According to Bernama.com, he said the ex-farm price of pigs would be maintained as at present, which was RM760 per 100 kg.

"Because during Chinese New Year, the (pork) demand will go up by about 10 to 20 per cent, they (pig farmers) have given an undertaking that there will be no increase in the ex-farm price, and this is good for the consumer," Mr Chua told a press conference after having a dialogue with representatives of the Federation of Livestock Farmers' Association of Malaysia, in the country on Tuesday.

Mr Chua said he also hoped that pork sellers and retailers would not take advantange of the situation to increase the price of pork as the pig farmers had given a guarantee to maintain the ex-farm price.
