EU Pig Prices: Constant Trend Predominant

EU - This week, a constant trend is the most obvious feature observed on the European slaughter pig market.
The Great British, Swedish, Spanish and Danish quotations went up by one to five cents. France alone had its quotation go down by one cent. In Germany, Belgium, Austria and the Netherlands, the prices remained unchanged.
The good supply / demand balance is said to be the reason for unchanged prices. France’s price decrease is the result of weaker demand, although the quantities of pigs for slaughter on offer is also declining. The Spanish price increase is explained by the littler quantities of pigs for slaughter on offer. Denmark’s plus is attributed to improved export opportunities with regard to exports to third countries, resulting from a weaker euro.
Trend: Currently, the pigs-mature-for-slaughter market proves to be well balanced. There is no problem for the marketers to sell the quantities of pigs mature for slaughter on offer. Positive opportunities in the export business result in speedy sales of pork.
