ASF Continues to Persist in Russia
12 August 2010RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported four outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in the month of June.
What started in September continues to persist in Russia. The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 38 on Tuesday, 10 August. According to the report, the affected population consists of wild boar (sus scrofa).
The reports states that the first two outbreaks took place on 15 June and 19 June, both at Maykopskiy in Respublica Adyeyga. The other two outbreaks occured on 20 June at Sochi and Mostovskoy, both in Krasnodarskiy Kray.
In total, five cases of ASF were identified. The source of the outbreak is still under investigation.
