Pig Producers Warned of IPPC Change

UK - Producers with an EPR Permit need to be aware of their herd numbers and that they do not exceed the limits set, especially those contract finishing.
BPEX informs producers that the permit limits are as follows:
- 750 sow places
- 2,000 finishing pig places (>30 kg)
The Environment Agency has also issued a position paper stating that gilts need to be counted as production pigs for the purpose of this permit.
Make sure all your pigs are correctly accounted for on the permit to avoid any problems.
