RUSSIA - Two new outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) on pig farms in Krasnodar during July have been reported.
The veterinary authority sent Follow Up report No. 63 dated 11 August to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
The two outbreaks were both in Krasnodar and on commercial farms, starting on 4 and 29 July. In total, 12,939 pigs were affected, of which 148 showed symptoms, 118 died and 12,821 animals have been destroyed.
Krasnodar is in southeastern Russia and borders the Black Sea. There have been several previous ASF outbreaks in the region.
