Last Restrictions on Pork Import from Lithuania

23 January 2012

LITHUANIA - Lithuanian State Food and Veterinary Service said that Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance lifted interim restriction on pork export from Kaunas region as of 18 January.

Citing LETA/ELTA, The Baltic Times reports that the restriction was applied from June when classical swine fever virus was detected in pig farms in Jonava, Kaunas district.

Kaunas district was the last one in Lithuania to have Russian restrictions on import of pork and its products that have not been heat treated, reports LETA/ELTA.
