Print This Page Russia Will Reduce Imports of Meat in 2012
RUSSIA - The Russian government has approved a reduction in meat import quotas for this year. The cuts will see pork imports decrease by 14 per cent. The provision allowed will therefore be reduced from 500,000 to 430,000 tonnes.
Poultry imports will also decrease by six per cent. The only figure to be retained unchanged is for purchases of beef, which is set at 560,000 tonnes. However, these fees can be modified over the years because they depend on the development of the process of accession of Russia to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
