RUSSIA - Dr Nicolay Vlasov, CVO of Veterinary services at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, has reported two new outbreaks of African swine fever, both outbreaks having occurred in Krasnodar Krai.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 76 dated 1 February 2012.

A total of 7307 pigs showed signs of susceptibility, out of which 262 cases were reported. The 262 affected animals were found dead, while the remaining 7045 were destroyed.

The source of the outbreak remains unknown and is still under investigation.
