NPA Introduces Breeding Companies Imports Protocol

02 September 2013
National Pig Association - The voice of the UK pig industry

UK - Britain's major pig genetics companies and their vets have developed a protocol for the importation of live pigs into the United Kingdom.

The companies, which are members of NPA's Breeding Companies Committee, already employ health standards that exceed statutory requirements, and this is reflected in the protocol.

The rules cover stock from both new and existing sources and are designed to protect against all major pathogens of concern to United Kingdom pig health.

It is important that anyone intending to import live pigs or semen into the country does so using the protocol, says NPA.
