EU Pig Prices Witness Brisk Demand

EU - The atmosphere continues to be optimistic on the European slaughter pig market. Friendly quotations have been reported across the board. With the exception of Denmark, quotations almost everywhere are going up slightly.

The German quotation again served as a role model, with its 3 cents’ increase. The other quotations followed suit with price increases on such scale.

At a corrected plus 1.4 cents, the French price increase remained slightly below that level. It seems that the missing day of slaughter had a little more effect there.

But in France, too, the situation appears to have stabilised on the slaughter pig market after the period of price decline.

Trend for the German market: Demand for meat is looked upon favourably. This still goes on after Whitsuntide. The quantities of live pigs on offer have not gone up, and demand on the part of slaughter companies remains unbroken. This trend is confirmed by the results achieved on the Internet Pig Auction, being indicative of the prices remaining steady at least.
