Disease, Gvt Regulation, Consolidation Continue to Drive US Pork Industry

11 June 2015

ANALYSIS - Disease, input costs, government regulations and export opportunities are some of the industry trends that are driving the swine industry, reports Sarah Mikesell from the World Pork Expo in Des Moines, Iowa, USA in early June.

Bob Barron, national accounts manager with Norbrook, said animal health, disease outbreaks and biosecurity are the key drivers in the US pork industry and will continue to be for some time. Feed prices and government regulations are also playing a big role in the industry as well.

Bob Barron speaks to ThePigSite at the 2015 World Pork Expo, hosted by the National Pork Producers Council.
