THE VOICE OF THE UK PIG INDUSTRY

NPA is active on members' behalf in Brussels & White-hall, and with pro-cessors, supermarkets & caterers – fighting for the growth and pros-perity of the UK pig industry.

Traffic Lights reports seven positive signals for sellers:

  • NPA have agreed a price package with retailers, which guarantees no leading supermarket will cut the price it pays for British pork during January-February.
  • Renewed strength of the Euro.
  • Serious shortage of spot pigs.
  • Little pigmeat in abattoir chillers.
  • Slightly firmer AESA this week.
  • Firmer prices on the continent as Aids to Provide Storage starts to impact.
  • Few British pigs have been rolled.
According to the Traffic Lights analysts, producers will still have to fight for a sensible price... "but there is no reason why most should accept less than 96p".
