JSR Genetics opens two new AI centres
UK - Two new AI centres have been opened by JSR Genetics, at Craven Arms, Shropshire and Garboldisham, Norfolk, following significant growth in demand for semen over the past two years.
The new centres known, respectively, as Newhouse SDS and Eastern SDS, will enable local pig producers to take advantage of JSR Genetics' 'Cool Link' temperature-controlled courier service as well as the normal semen delivery service (SDS), by post.
Together they will add 70 boars to the company's national AI stud. With eight centres around the country, the company is now the largest supplier of pig AI in the UK.
JSR Genetics is the only company to have expanded its boar stud significantly, in the past l2 months. Targeted sales are over 900,000 doses of semen per year.
Following the integration of the Cotswold AI service into the existing JSR Newsham SDS, the company is able to offer a unique and unrivalled range of sire lines to deliver progeny with the particular characteristics that the customer requires.
"As the UK market moves ahead with heavier slaughterweights, this choice and availability of top-quality boars becomes even more important in helping producers maximise profit," commented Ian Brisby, chief executive officer of JSR Genetics.
