Antoon van den Berg runs Primayor Alimentation which processes 3.5 million pigs a year in eight plants with 2,500 employees. Primayor is part of Campofrio, one of Spain’s largest food processors. He will be speaking about the future of pig production in Spain especially in view of the dynamic growth in production which has seen the country reach second place in the EU pork league behind Germany. If the growth continues Spain could take over as the EU’s leading pig producing country.

The World Pork Congress is at the Birmingham ICC on Thursday and Friday, June 19 and 20 and is organised by the British Pig Executive (BPEX) and the Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) in conjunction with the International Meat Secretariat.

BPEX Chief Executive Mick Sloyan said: “Bookings for the event are going well and that is only to be expected given the calibre of the speakers - all of international renown.“

Another speaker to confirm is Guillaume Roué, President of Inaporc, a national pork industry body, President of Prestor, the second largest pig production co-operative in Brittany and he is also on the board of pork processor Louis Gadd.
