Pig-movement ban announced
NEW ZEALAND - Biosecurity authorities are slapping an indefinite ban on the movement of pigs between the North and South islands to try to stop the spread of a wasting disease threatening the pork industry. Post Weaning Multi-Systemic Wasting Syndrome devastates six-week-old to 12-week-old piglet populations and has struck three North Island farms, involving 480 sows and their offspring.
