Price discovery big issue in hogs
US - Price discovery in the swine industry is disappearing, says Michael Stumo, a Northwood native and legal counsel for the Organization for Competitive Markets. About 87% of pork production is covered by some sort of contract. There is no price negotiation for much of the rest. Farmers take whatever the packer is offering in order to get shackle space.
