GAO report: Animal antibiotics threaten human health
US - A new report from the Government Accounting Office warns that antibiotic resistance in humans from the use of antibiotics in animals poses an "unacceptable risk" to human health. The report, "Antibiotic Resistance: Federal Agencies Need to Better Focus Efforts to Address Risk to Humans from Antibiotic Use in Animals," was requested by Senators Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass.; Olympia Snowe, R-Maine; and Tom Harkin, D-Iowa.
