Report says Iowa DNR is falling down on regulation of CAFOs

IOWA - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) lacks the authority and resources to properly regulate the states' livestock operations under the federal Clean Water Act, according to a report released today by the Environmental Integrity Project, a non-profit group. The report alleges that Iowa has failed to regulate thousands of confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs), despite federal laws requiring the state to do so.
