Panel nears report on one solution for N.C.'s hog waste debate
NORTH CAROLINA - A panel charged with finding a better way for North Carolina farmers to manage hog waste is near a report - but the preferred method isn't cheap.
The technology, known as "Super Soils," uses a series of oversized tanks that carry manure and urine through several cleaning stages. It's expensive, so the North Carolina State University official leading the search expects to name it as a contingency plan.
