UK - A new interactive website has been launched to provide butchers with instant access to a host of information.

British Pig Executive

This includes business advice, guides to various pork cuts, recipes and news on the latest marketing campaigns. The site, created by the British Pig Executive (BPEX) has been specifically designed to offer a vast range of advice and support to independent butchers, helping them to make the most of pork and pig meat products, as well as providing a valuable information resource.

BPEX business sector manager Yvonne Danson said: “This website will essentially provide a link between butchers and the BPEX team, helping butchers add value to their business. It has been designed with a straightforward layout which is easy to navigate, despite containing such a vast array of information. With many butchers already having online access, this website will be a fast and easy way to find out about pork related activity, promotional events and even industry news and trends.

Yvonne said: “Butchers will be encouraged to register their details which will give further access to useful tools such as a carcase costing calculator and yield and profit information. They will also receive regular updates from BPEX and free copies of any marketing or promotional material. I would encourage butchers to take advantage of this valuable resource.“

If you have any queries or comments regarding the website, email [email protected] or call 01908 844 107 to provide us with your valuable feedback.

Here are just some of the other services that the website will offer butchers:

  • An ‘Ask the Expert’ forum featuring pork-related queries and solutions
  • An interactive guide to preparing modern pork cuts
  • A recipe section, offering recipe suggestions and cooking guidelines for either in-store or catering customers
  • Information on the forthcoming Autumn roadshows and product evaluation events
