French court blocks pig farm due to excessive phosphorus levels

FRANCE - In the first decision of its kind in France on such grounds, the tribunal administratif de Rennes has blocked the extension of a pig farm in view of the risks of phosphorus pollution. The Morbihan Prefect who issued the Decree authorising the extension of the farm "was guilty of an error of judgement in view of the danger notably to public health and well-being", the court states in its recent ruling.
