Higher 2005 pork production could challenge packer capacity

US - Packer capacity is okay this fall, says Steve Meyer, president of Paragon Economics, but record high prices for hogs could lead 2005 pork production to levels higher than what the industry can process. This, despite predictions US packer capacity will also increase by late in 2005. The predictions were findings in a new study funded by the Pork Checkoff.
