Livestock Risk Protection Insurance Now Available
US - Livestock Risk Protection insurance is now available in 19 states. The insurance will cover feeder cattle, fed cattle and swine; the insurance was previously available in a smaller number of states and was suspended for cattle December 2003 after BSE was found in Washington State. The program, under the supervision of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Risk Management Agency (RMA), protects against price declines in cattle and hogs over a specified coverage period.
